The Montreal Impact USSDA teams went undefeated in four games this past weekend, playing in back to back double headers against South Central Premier on Saturday and Oakwood Soccer Club on Sunday, at the Saint-Jean-Vianney Sports Complex in RDP.
The U18s were the first to take the pitch and got the ball rolling for a successful weekend when Charles Joly and Michael Bilak each scored a brace in the Impact’s 6-1 victory over South Central in the early game on Saturday. Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé and Guillaume Trudel scored the others.
Sunday brought some tougher competition as the U18 team defeated the Oakwood Soccer Club 3-2. Trudel added two more goals to his weekend tally, while Joly scored in his second straight game as well.
“After a disappointing performance the week before, it was important that we be ready for a difficult back to back,” said U18 head coach Jason DiTullio. “We regrouped and played with the same passion and quality that we are used to. We have said all year long that we wanted to improve on each performance, and after a little bump in the road, we continued that improvement and progression. We needed everyone in this difficult back to back situation and all were ready for the challenge.”
The U16s did one better in the second match on the day, besting South Central 7-0 on a double by Simon Lemire, along with single markers by Claudio Di Zazzo, Samuel Duffek, Heikel Jarras, Esleyder Luarca and Kerry Zhang.
The younger Impact academy team played to a hard fought 1-1 draw in the final matchup of the weekend against Oakwood on Sunday afternoon, with Di Zazzo getting the game-tying goal.
The Impact USSDA teams play their final two games of the season this weekend, facing the New England Revolution on Friday, May 24 in Weston Massachusetts before returning home to host BW Gottschee Academy on Sunday, May 26 (U18 at 11am, U16 at 1:30pm) at the Saint-Jean-Vianney Sports Complex.
