The Montreal Impact Academy teams were in action one last time on the road this season against a tough opponent, the New York Red Bulls.
Against one of the best academies in the league, Montreal remained unbeaten in three games, with the Impact U15 winning 3-1, the U17 team drawing 2-2 and the U19 tying 3-3.
A brace from Medgy Alexandre for the win
After 10 difficult minutes, the Impact U15 took control of the game and scored the first goal in the 20th minute thanks to Medgy Alexandre. The Red Bulls had a few chances after but didn’t score.
In the second half, Dominique Morin’s players doubled their lead with a goal from Charles-Étienne Volcy, alone against the goalkeeper. New York cut the lead in half with 20 minutes to play, but Medgy Alexandre scored his second goal of the game to ensure the 3-1 win.
With a 16-0-3 record, 81 goals scored and only 13 conceded, the Impact U15 remains first in the Northeast division.
Impact U17 put pressure on NYCFC at the top
Despite missing seven players who were at the 2019 U17 Concacaf Championship, head coach Nicolas Gagnon’s team did well, earning a 2-2 draw against the New York Red Bulls.
Striker Abdul Binate scored the first goal in the first half and Nathan Saliba (U15) scored the second goal in the second half.
The Impact U17 is second in the division with a 12-5-4 record, right behind New York City FC.
Impact U19 draws 3-3
Montreal was first to score in the first half, when Mujtaba Mirhasan headed in a cross from Brandon Garcia. New York still scored twice before half-time to take the lead.
The Red Bulls scored another goal in the second half, but Moulay Belghiti and Calin Calaidjoglu scored to help the come away with a point.
Philippe Eullaffroy’s team remains third in the Northeast division with a 10-5-3 record.
