Impact forward Andrew Wenger refuses to look back on 2013 with disdain.
“Sure, 2014 is a fresh start,” he said. “I don’t want to look back on last year. It’s a new season, and with a new coach, it’s an opportunity to start things with a clean slate.”

A good approach for Wenger who was a little snake-bitten last season, after scoring four goals in his rookie season.
But for Wenger, what’s in the past is in the past. The 2012 first overall SuperDraft pick is focusing on the now.
“I look at last season as a learning experience,” he added. “Any time you have an experience, good or bad, you need to learn from it. I got to camp early and I’ve been working hard.”
“As a forward, you find some momentum when you’re scoring goals,” said Impact head coach Frank Klopas. “You have to have the kind of mentality that if you miss, it’s always about the next opportunity. You can’t get down on yourself. Andrew will learn from last season. We believe in him.”
The door for Wenger is open to start the season as Impact DP striker Marco Di Vaio is suspended for three games, but the third-year pro is looking at putting together a complete season.
“It’s an opportunity for me to start the year, but it’s not a three-game season, it’s a 34-game season, so I’m looking at the long term.”
