Breaking down the fastest Impact braces in MLS
Two goals in two minutes, giving the Impact a 2-1 win over Toronto FC in the final gamer of the season.
It also gave the Impact home advantage in the first game of the playoffs, a knockout game against Toronto FC, which they went on to win 3-0.
Those two goals from Didier Drogba in the 54th and 55th minutes changed everything for the Montreal Impact in 2015 and remains to this day one of the quickest braces in Impact history in the MLS.

Although it set a record at the time, it has since been beaten. The Impact has actually had a player score a brace in one minute THREE times in MLS, with all of those instances coming between the 50th and 60th minutes.
Here are some of the quickest braces in the Impact’s MLS history.
July 7, 2018 v Colorado Rapids – Saphir Taïder – 55th and 56th
The Algerian international put the team on his back with this two-minute brace, after scoring just one goal thus far for the Impact since joining the team. Although the Rapids would get one back, the Impact would come away with all three points and jump over the playoff line.
June 5, 2019 v Seattle Sounders - Saphir Taïder – 74th and 78th
Almost exactly a year later, it was Taïder to the rescue again, this time against the Seattle Sounders. After conceding and going down 1-0 in the 64th minute, Taïder scored first from the spot, and then four minutes later from open play, to turn the game upside down.
September 26, 2015 v D.C. United – Didier Drogba – 4th and 11th
Drogba’s brace against Toronto FC before the start of the playoffs wasn’t his only quick double with the Montreal side. A few weeks earlier, against D.C. United, Montreal earned a 2-0 victory over the Washington side at home, with King Didier slotting in one of his classic free-kicks to open the scoring.
Those two goals would bring his total to seven after just six games.
July 2, 2016 v New England Revolution – Michael Salazar – 40th and 48th
Michael Salazar won’t forget his first – or his second – MLS goals any time soon, as they came just eight minutes apart, allowing the Impact to erase a two-goal deficit. Minutes later, Piatti would score the winner, marking the first time in MLS the Impact won a game after being down by two.
June 17, 2017 v Orlando City SC – Nacho Piatti – 58th and 59th
Nacho loved to score against Orlando, especially in Florida. The Argentine notched two goals in quick succession in this one to flip the score on its head and make it 3-2 for Montreal, but Orlando would end up tying the game in the 94th minute.
To this day, this is the quickest brace in the Impact’s history in MLS.
September 20, 2019 v Toronto FC – Anthony Jackson-Hamel – 47th -51st
In one of the Impact’s most famous wins against Toronto FC, it was Academy product Anthony Jackson-Hamel who served the dagger early in the second half, putting two goals past Alex Bono at BMO Field to make it 5-1 Impact.
