MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced on Wednesday the acquisition of forward Matías Cóccaro via permanent transfer from Argentine first division side CA (Club Atlético) Huracán. Cóccaro signed a three-year deal for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 seasons, with two option years in 2027 and 2028, using Targeted Allocation Money.
Born in Pirarajá, Uruguay, the 26-year-old striker began his professional career in 2018 with Rampla Juniors Fútbol Club in Uruguay's top flight.
He had a brief spell with Uruguayan club Villa Teresa in 2019, where he scored five goals and three assists in eight games, before joining Montevideo City Torque. With City, he tallied 13 goals and 10 assists in 55 games.
El Zorro then joined CA Huracán, first on loan in 2021, then permanently in 2022. In 110 games with the team, Cóccaro collected 31 goals and seven assists.
