MONTREAL – CF Montréal announced Monday the first team coaching staff for the 2023 season. Hired on December 21, head coach Hernán Losada will be assisted by assistant coaches Laurent Ciman and Sebastián Setti, fitness coach Barthélémy Delecroix, assistant fitness coach Stefano Pasquali and goalkeeper coach Romuald Peiser.
“I am pleased with the addition of two young professionals of great quality to complement my staff,” said CF Montréal head coach Hernán Losada. “I believe it essential to have colleagues with different knowledge bases and skill sets. As a coach, I strive to surround myself with the very best to continue learning and growing every day. Sebastián [Setti] is a passionate fan of the game and team sports. His extensive international experience will be an important asset for communication and inclusion in the group. His coaching licenses, obtained within Spanish institutions, will provide great insights from a tactical-technical point of view, in order to put forward our playing philosophy. Barthélémy [Delecroix] is a highly qualified professional who specializes in physical conditioning and athletic workload management. His experience with elite young talent, as well as his work with professionals in a top-five league, Ligue 1, will help us provide the best conditions to maximize player performance, both individually and collectively.”
Setti is an Argentinean from Buenos Aires. He coached the U19 side at Spanish club CD Laudio for two seasons, before managing the club's first team in the 2020-2021 season. He then served as a scout for Greek club Asteras Tripolis. As a professional player, from 2004 to 2017, the midfielder trained with Argentinos Juniors, played more than 200 games with different clubs in Argentina, Belgium, Paraguay, China, Ukraine, Cyprus, Greece, Mexico, and Spain. He also holds a UEFA Pro coaching license, earned in 2020.
Delecroix was most recently Head of Performance at French Ligue 1 club Stade de Reims from June 2020 to February 2022, where his responsibilities included managing a high-performance sports science staff (physical trainers, doctor, kinesiologists, nutritionists, analyst). Previously, he was employed by the French Football Federation (FFF), from 2018 to 2020, as fitness coach of the U17 and U20 national teams, and as Head of the Performance Center of the FFF. From 2014 to 2018, he was a fitness coach with Lille Olympique Sporting Club (LOSC)’s first team. A graduate of the University of Lille, he holds a PhD (2019) and a master’s degree in Coaching and Sports Performance Optimization (2015).
The Club may add additional members to its technical staff ahead of the upcoming season.
