In continuing its commitment to the development of women's soccer, CF Montréal, in partnership with Aléo Foundation, awarded four scholarships to young women soccer players across the province of Quebec. The recipients received their bursaries before the CF Montréal match last Saturday at Stade Saputo. Each player received a $2,000 scholarship.
This initiative is directly in line with our mission of giving back to the community by supporting grassroots women’s soccer and contributing to youth development and being an engine of dreams and emotions to young and talented girls who are passionate about our sport.
To present the scholarships to the recipients, we welcomed to the center of the field the President and CEO of CF Montréal, Gabriel Gervais, our Women's soccer collaborator at CF Montréal, Amy Walsh, and the Executive Director of the Fondation Aléo, Mrs. Patricia Demers.
Here is more information regarding the four recipients.
Érika Gariépy - 16 years old
Érika is a member of Soccer Quebec's Female EXCEL Program (PEF). She is currently a Secondary 5 student in the sport-study program at École Saint-Gabriel in Sainte-Thérèse.
Érika's goal is to help her team win the provincial championship this season and is also aiming for a scholarship with an NCAA Division I program. With dreams of playing professionally, she wants to be an engineer and coach to pass on her love of the sport to younger children.
Florianne Jourde - 18 years old
Florianne helped Team Canada qualify for the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship in April 2023. She was also part of the Canadian team at the Under 20 World Cup in August 2022.
Florianne is looking to help the national team make a mark at the Under-20 World Championship in 2024. She also wants to make a good first impression with the University of Southern California Trojans.
She is currently studying pure and applied sciences at Vanier College and is very interested in the health field. Her dream job would be to combine the health and sports fields. She envisions herself participating in research on athlete performance.
Janet Okeke – 17 years old
Janet is a silver medalist with Team Quebec at the Canada Games in Niagara in August 2022, while being selected to the All-Star team for the competition. She is also a bronze medalist with Team Canada at the CONCACAF Under-17 Championships in May 2022. Janet is currently a member of Soccer Quebec's Women's EXCEL Program.
She is a Secondary 5 student in the sport-study program at Georges-Vanier School in Laval. Janet's goal is to make it to the national U20 team and be recruited by a top American university in the NCAA. She intends to pursue her studies in the field of business or computer science.
Félicia Roy - 17 years old
Félicia was a member of the Canadian team at the U17 World Cup in October 2022. She is also a bronze medalist with the Canadian team at the CONCACAF U17 Championship in May 2022. Currently, she is a member of Soccer Quebec's Women's EXCEL Program.
Félicia is a Secondary 5 student in the sport-study program at Collège Français. She aspires to get her share of assists this season, but also to score goals. She also wants to improve her preparation between games by taking better care of her body. She dreams of playing professionally, is interested in marketing and would like to start her own business. The human body is a subject of interest for the one who sees herself as a massage therapist or kinesiologist.
