MONTREAL – CF Montréal selected on Tuesday midfielder Jojea Kwizera, from Utah Valley University, 15th overall, in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas. With its 11th pick of the third round (67th overall), CF Montréal then selected forward Ivy Brisma from North Carolina State University.

The Club acquired both the 15th overall pick and $100,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) from the New York Red Bulls in exchange for the 11th overall pick in the SuperDraft.

“We are pleased with the two players we selected today,” said CF Montréal Sporting Director Olivier Renard. “We first looked at the quality of the players available today when making our selection. Both players are excited to join the team and we hope they can integrate the group quickly so they can show us their qualities.”

Kwizera, originally from Bukavu, Democratic Republic of the Congo, started 13 games in 2021, collecting three goals and eight assists. In 2020, he played in and started seven games, tallying one goal and two assists for the Wolverines.

Brisma was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where he grew up before moving to East Windsor, New Jersey. He played with the Philadelphia Union Academy (2018) where he became the youngest player in the history of the club to play a Generation Adidas Cup match with a U16 team, while remaining the assist leader in his age group for three consecutive years. He played three years of college soccer with the North Carolina State University Wolfpack (2018 – 2020) during which time he featured in 68 games, including 52 starts, and collected a total of five goals and 11 assists.

CF Montréal will hold the first session of its preseason training camp this Wednesday at Olympic Stadium, before continuing preparations in Orlando until February 3, and then in Fort Lauderdale through February 13. The Club will begin its Concacaf Champions League campaign February 15 at 10pm (ET) in the Round of 16 against Santos Laguna in Torreón, Mexico. The return leg will be played at Olympic Stadium in Montreal, on Tuesday, February 22, at 8pm (ET).
