Montreal looking for seventh consecutive win through all competitions
CF Montréal will be on the road to take on FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium this Wednesday, May 17 at 7:30pm. You can watch the game on Apple TV with the MLS Season Pass, or watch on RDS, TSN, or listen in on BPM Sports or TSN 690.
Head coach Hernán Losada’s men will be looking for a seventh consecutive win in all competitions and a fifth consecutive win in MLS, when they travel to Ohio on Wednesday.
“They are a very strong team with decisive players on the offensive side," said head coach Hernán Losada. “Their four offensive players are very dangerous. They can score with an individual action. It's complicated to defend against players like that. They have a good balance between their offensive players and the rest of the team and that's why they have won all their home games."
Montreal is most recently coming off back-to-back wins against their rival Toronto FC, beating them first last Tuesday at BMO Field, 2-1 in the Canadian Championship quarterfinals, before putting up another good performance last Saturday at Stade Saputo in a 2-0 win over the Ontario side.
Montreal is now one of the hottest teams in the league, currently sitting in seventh in the Eastern Conference, just three points away from Atlanta United in fourth.
The Bleu-blanc-noir will, however, face a stern test when they take on FC Cincinnati, who currently sits in second in the Eastern Conference. The Ohio side has made TQL Stadium its fortress, with six wins in their six games played at home so far.
“It’s always complicated on the road in this league, added Losada. “I think we put a lot more emphasis and energy on how to avoid conceding goals. We worked on having a good solid structure, a solid defensive block, and defensive principles. Teams are built from the back to the front. Especially on the road, when you’re well organized, you always have a chance. We’ve worked a lot on having options and solutions when we have the ball as well, and you’re starting to see the progress there as well. It’s a balance that we’re looking for, that has worked well in the past few weeks, and that’s the difference compared to the start of the season.”
CF Montréal will continue its road trip, travelling to New York to take on the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, May 20, at 7:30pm, before coming back to Stade Saputo to take on Forge FC in the Canadian Championship semifinals on Wednesday, May 24, at 7pm. You can purchase tickets for that game here.
