CF Montréal will play a third straight game at Stade Saputo, all competitions included, this Saturday at 7:30pm, as they host the New York Red Bulls at Stade Saputo. Tickets for the game are available here, and you can also watch the game on Apple TV with the MLS Season Pass.
The Bleu-blanc-noir is coming off a solid 2-0 win against Vaughan SC, last Tuesday in the Canadian Championship, which saw Montreal progress through to the quarterfinals of the national tournament, where they’ll be taking on their rival Toronto FC.
Homegrown midfielder Sean Rea scored his first goal with the Club in the 2-0 win, opening the scoring in the 31st minute, before striker Sunusi Ibrahim doubled the lead just a few minutes later.
Montreal will now be looking to take that momentum into the MLS against the New York side this Saturday, as they look to turn things around early this season.
"We know the quality of the opponent," said head coach Hernan Losada. “It will be a completely different game than the one against Vaughn. We expect a lot of pressure, a lot of duels. I'm going to motivate my players and ask them to play faster in the build up to give the offensive players more time to find space between the opposing lines."
New York has also struggled coming out of the gate this year, with just one win in their first eight games played. They’re winless in their last four games, including three 1-1 draws. Scoring has also been an issue for head coach Gerhard Struber’s men, who have found the back of the net just six times this season.
“The first thing to do is not to concede a goal," said Losada. “Then, we will have to be efficient offensively because we are facing a strong team, physically very strong and that takes few goals. If we do not take goals, we will have more chances to win the three points at home.”
CF Montréal will head south of the border next week to take on Sporting Kansas City on Saturday, April 29, at 7:30pm. Watch the game on Apple TV with the MLS Season Pass or listen live on BPM Sports or TSN 690.
