Montreal back in action following two-week international break
CF Montréal will be back on the road to take on the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, April 1, at BC Place, with kick off set for 10:30pm EST. You can watch the game live on Apple TV with the MLS Season Pass, and also on BPM Sports and CJAD 800.
It’s Montreal first game following the two week international break, which saw centre-back Kamal Miller join the Canadian national team, while striker Romell Quioto joined the Honduran side.
Head coach Hernan Losada’s men are coming off their first win of the MLS regular season, a dramatic, come from behind win against the Philadelphia Union at Olympic Stadium, and will be looking to continue moving in the right direction against their Canadian rival.
“Every team is difficult, and every game is difficult,” said head coach Hernan Losada. “There’s a lot of competition in this league, and we’re playing away from home. It’s a long flight and there’s a time difference. It will be difficult but we will be competitive and I hope we can achieve a good result away from home. It’s important to get points on the road if we want to be ambitious this season.”
The Whitecaps are still looking for their first win of the season, having lost their two opening games, followed by three consecutive ties. It’s been a busy stretch for the BC representatives, who are also competing in this year’s edition of the Concacaf Champions League as last year’s winner of the Canadian Championship. They moved on to the next round of the tournament following a 7-3 win on aggregate over Honduran side Real España.
Head coach Vanni Sartini’s men know how difficult it is to balance the MLS regular season and Concacaf Champions league at the same time to start the season, and will be desperate to add a notch in the win column against Montreal this weekend.
“In this particular case, it was good to have a break,” added Losada. “In general, we increased our fitness. We had two very good weeks of training, during which we had a lot of fun as well, so there’s a good mood in the team, especially after the victory. I think the break was good for everyone.”
CF Montréal will be back on the road next weekend to take on the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, April 8, at 730pm, before playing their Stade Saputo home opener the following weekend on Saturday, April 15, also at 7:30pm.
