MONTREAL – CF Montréal will celebrate its history and the legacy of the Montreal Impact throughout the month of August with three unifying events highlighting the Club’s roots, culminating in Lloyd Barker’s induction to the Wall of Fame on Aug. 22.
“This celebration is an opportunity to highlight that our history is ever-present and continues to inspire our Club, our fans and future generations,” said CF Montréal president and CEO Gabriel Gervais. “The Archive Collection jersey, the retro match and Lloyd Barker’s induction will allow us to showcase the Club’s rich history.”
Archive Collection Jersey Launch
The celebrations will kick off on Aug. 13 with the launch of the Archive Collection third jersey, created in partnership with adidas. Inspired by the original away uniform worn by the Impact in 1993, this new jersey pays homage to the Club’s debut season, a significant chapter of Montreal's professional soccer history.
The complete collection accompanying the release of the new jersey will be available on Aug. 15 at Stade Saputo stores.
Retro Match
On Saturday, Aug. 15, CF Montréal will host a 1990s-themed retro match when D.C. United visits Stade Saputo. This will be the first game in which the players will wear the Archive Collection jersey, in an atmosphere inspired by the historic 1993 visual identity.
Lloyd Barker inducted to Wall of Fame
On Saturday, Aug. 22, during the match against the LA Galaxy at Stade Saputo, the Club will induct Lloyd Barker to the Wall of Fame during a halftime ceremony. He will be the eighth player in the history of the Bleu-blanc-noir to receive this honour.
Barker was part of the starting XI in the Impact’s inaugural game. He is one of four of the Club’s members to have won the 1994 and 2004 championships. He also helped his team win three consecutive regular-season titles in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
He played 191 regular-season games (7th in Club history), scored 34 goals (4th in Club history), and recorded 31 assists (4th in Club history).
Barker also played indoor soccer for Montreal in the National Professional Soccer League in the 1997-98 and 1999-2000 seasons, scoring 12 goals and adding seven assists.
On an individual note, Barker received the Guiseppe-Saputo trophy as the Club’s MVP and was named to the APSL All-Star first team in 1995. In 2006, Barker was officially named as one of the Club’s Builders.
This will also be the second game played in the Archive Collection jersey.
