MONTREAL – As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, the Montreal Impact announced on Tuesday a cake designing contest.
In partnership with Bakery Lafrenaie, La Fédération des producteurs d'œufs de consommation du Québec and Saputo, the Impact will be baking a gigantic cake for the club’s 20th anniversary based on a design submitted by Impact supporters.
To take part in the contest, all you need to do is send your cake designs (in .jpg or .png) created by hand, Photoshop or other means, to info@impactmontreal.com by Monday, May 13 at noon.
The best design, using Impact colours as inspiration, will be selected by the Impact staff. The winner will be awarded a mezzanine for 10 people for the May 25th game, be presented on the field prior to kickoff and will be involved in the “Making of…” of the giant cake.
The enormous one layer chocolate cake will be the size of two pieces of plywood, 16 feet long by 8 feet wide, using some 800 eggs, 32 kg of sugar, 40 kg of flour, 25 litres of water, 10kg of chocolate, 40 litres of cream and 1kg of baking powder.
The peanut-free cake will be served during the game on May 25th against the Philadelphia Union at Stade Saputo as part of the team’s continued 20th anniversary celebrations, which will include the presentation of players from the 2004 championship team.
