MONTREAL – Impact defender Wandrille Lefèvre officially became a Canadian citizen on Thursday at a ceremony held at Stade Saputo, alongside several other new Canadians.
"After 11 years here in Montreal and in Canada, I am very happy to say that I have adopted the city as my own," mentioned Wandrille Lefèvre. "Today, the country has adopted me in turn."
Lefèvre, 25, arrived in Quebec in 2003 with his family, who traveled from Perpignan, in the South of France.
After having played with Montréal-Concordia for a few years following his arrival in la belle province, he joined the Université de Montréal Carabins for four seasons, before joining the Impact Academy in 2001 and playing two seasons with the U21 team.
He then made his debut in MLS in 2013. He has started 21 of 25 appearances, accumulating 1,977 minutes of play, and has scored a goal and added two assists.
Lefèvre notably scored his first career MLS goal on June 13 against New York City FC.
