CHARLOTTE – FC Montreal will visit the Charlotte Independence Friday at 7:30pm, at the Ramblewood Soccer Stadium. The game will be available via web streaming at www.impactmontreal.com/fcmontreal.
Montreal is having its best series of results since the start of its 2015 USL season .The Bleu-blanc-noir won three consecutive games, including a 1-0 win against Toronto FC II on the road. They have scored 10 goals and conceded only 4 during this period.
“It’s fresh in our minds,” said head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. “We had many losses in the first half of the season and we remember this too. Players are also focussing on progress. We can’t stop. The challenge is to make every game better than the last one. The last performance is used as a stepping stone for the next one.”
Montreal is three points behind Charlotte. Both expansion teams are playing each other for the first time this season.
“I won’t lie, after a win, we all take a look at the standings,” added Eullaffroy. “But we also know that we’ve come a long way since the start of the season. Our positive results are very recent.”
“We remain focused,” explained midfielder Marco Dominguez. “We are very confident and we find each other better than before. Our goal is to return home with all 6 points on the road this week.’’
The Independence is a team that rarely plays a high scoring game. They only scored 15 goals this season and conceded 18 in 15 games. Charlotte also tied the USL leader 0-0 recently. It represents the only game the Rochester Rhinos didn’t win at home this season.
The next FC Montreal game will be on August 1st as the Bleu-blanc-noir will face the Charleston Battery on the road in their home, at the Blackbaud Stadium, at 7:30pm.
