HARRISBURG, PA – FC Montreal will visit the City Islanders in Harrisburg this Saturday at 7pm, at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The game will be available via web streaming at www.impactmontreal.com/fcmontreal.
Despite an excellent second half of the season (6-2-2), the Bleu-blanc-noir will try to bounce back offensively following its two last games without a goal scoring, a scoreless draw in Wilmington and a 1-0 loss to the Charlotte Independence at Stade Saputo.
“It’s a good opportunity to move forward after Wednesday’s result,” explained winger Fabio Morelli. “The first game over there didn’t go well for us, so we want to show them we are better than that. We want to start scoring again, which we didn’t do in our last two games.”
“The players are aware that they’ve underperformed,” said head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. “Now, the next step is better execution. That’s what’s been frustrating over the last two games because we know what we can do. We hope to see a better performance in Harrisburg.”
At the beginning of the season, FC Montreal lost 2-1 in Harrisburg, which was the first road trip for the team in USL. Defender Mitchel Bringolf was shown a red card in the 9th minute and the City Islanders were awarded two penalties, with one stopped by goalkeeper David Paulmin. Midfielder Louis Béland-Goyette also scored the team’s first ever goal in USL in that game.
“It is good timing for us,” added Eullaffroy. “The first time we played them, we left with disappointed, but now four months later, we’ve improved a lot from that game. It’s interesting to be back there with a group that has progressed a lot. We will be able to evaluate ourselves against a good team.”
The next game will be played on Saturday, September 5, at 3pm, against Toronto FC II, at the Ontario Soccer Centre.
