MONTREAL – The schedule for FC Montreal’s inaugural season in USL PRO was unveiled on Monday.
FC Montreal, which replaces the U23 team, will play its home games on both the main field and the synthetic field at Stade Saputo.
The team will play its first ever game on Saturday, March 28, against Toronto FC II, at Olympic Stadium.
FC Montreal will also be reacquainted with former USL rivals in the Rochester Rhinos, the Richmond Kickers, the Charleston Battery and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
A total of 24 teams, divided into two conferences (East and West), will face their conference rivals twice. The other six matches will be played against geographic rivals for a total of 28 games.
The top six teams from each conference will qualify for the playoffs. The first two teams will get an automatic buy to the semi-final round.
Twelve new teams have joined the league in 2015, of which seven are affiliated with MLS clubs.
Philippe Eullaffroy will lead the team as head coach. He will be joined by assistant coach Simon Gatti, fitness coach Yannick Girard and goalkeepers coach Jack Stern.
The team’s full roster will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
