Despite the fact that the Impact has been eliminated from a spot in the postseason, there are still plenty of reasons to watch the Saturday’s game versus its rivals across the 401, Toronto FC.
Here are the top five reasons to tune in on Saturday afternoon, at 1:30pm (ET) as your Impact travels to BMO Field
1. Road trip!
With just a five hour car ride on the 401, you could be at BMO Field to take in the game in person between the Impact and TFC. The Ultras Montreal and a number of other supporters are making the trip to support the team. Even though some tickets remain in the visitors section, it’s the only part of BMO Field that has a chance of being sold out.

2. Race for first
The race for first in the 2013 Amway Canadian Championship: The importance of finishing as the top Canadian team has been discussed plenty of times already, in order to play FC Edmonton, the only second division side in the semi-final of tournament in 2013. Beating TFC could be a good way to carry some momentum into the Canadian cup in 2013.
3. 19th place... guaranteed
Last place in the league…guaranteed: With a 5-20-7 record, Toronto is guaranteed to finish as the worst team in MLS this season with two games left to play. The Impact has the chance to put the final nail in TFC’s coffin in its last home game of the season at BMO Field.
4. Revenge is on the table
Despite TFC’s dismal record, the Impact has had some difficulty against the basement dwelling team. Aside from a 2-1 victory at home at Olympic Stadium back on April 7, the Impact was eliminated by the Reds in the 2012 Canadian Championship (0-0 draw in Montreal and then a 2-0 win at BMO Field, despite having lost a man in the first half). Then, on June 27, TFC came to Stade Saputo and hammered the Impact 3-0 on home soil.
5. A battle of Canadian internationals
Canadian international vs Canadian international: Midfielders Terry Dunfield of TFC and Patrice Bernier battle for playing time with the Canadian men’s national team during its two qualifying games over the last week and will now have to do battle on the pitch as two key cogs in their respective team’s midfield.
One last thing...
Oh, and it’s freaking Toronto! Who does not want to see Montreal best Toronto on their own home turf!
