New head coach Dale Mitchell has approached 30 players, but 23 will be invited for the tournament, which will take place in the United States, from June 6 to 24. During the preliminary round, Canada will face Costa Rica, June 6, Guadeloupe, June 9, and Haiti, June 11.
Gervais had played in two of Canada’s three games at the 2005 Gold Cup tournament. He missed the first match-up because of a groin injury, but played all 90 minutes of the two following games against the USA and Cuba.
