Following the Impact’s training session Tuesday evening at Estadio Cementos Progreso, a number of players met with the media, both from back home and locally, to talk about Wednesday’s matchup.

On the conditions of the turf…
The pitch is ok. It’s turf, so it’s a little fast and the ball bounces a little more than we are used to with a grass field. But a lot of the guys have played on synthetic, especially during winter in Montreal.
On the type of playing style for the game…
The fundamentals are to remain true to our playing style. We have to do things that make us successful. Yes, when you come to a place like this, travelling from afar, you have to take your opponents style into consideration. We have to remain focused on what we need to do to be successful.
On their opponents…
It’s going to be a difficult game. They are a good side and are ready to fight for every inch. But we have to be compact in the middle and play for one another and we’ll be successful.

On playing in Guatemala…
These types of games are special for players as they get to see another part of the world they may not normally have the chance to see. They learn about new cultures and get to play against different styles of soccer. That helps make you a better player.
On the condition of the turf…
It is a little odd having a game in Central America and playing on synthetic turf instead of grass. The weather conditions here are ideal for grass. We have played on synthetic fields at Olympic Stadium and at other places, so we know how to deal with it. It changes things slightly, but we’ll be ready.

On the opponents…
We are expecting a tough game. We know that Heredia is a difficult team to play against. But, we’ve been preparing for them and hopefully we can get some points and play a good game here.
How they prepared for Heredia…
We believe in our style of soccer, so in preparing for an opponent we don’t know so well, we have to focus on making sure we are ready to play our game and to do things that make us play well. If we focus on what we do on the pitch, we’ll be able to play a good game and that will translate into success.
