Laurent Ciman, centre back
Belgium
November 9 v Holland – International friendly
November 13 v Estonia – 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying
Laurent Ciman completed 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw against the Netherlands at Amsterdam ArenA. The general was a part of a three-man defence, in the middle of Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham Hotspur) and Christian Kabasele (Watford), and did well for his country, with three successful tackles, three interceptions, four clearances and scoring a goal on a free kick, that was overturned for a blatant offside. He also played the full game against Estonia, a resounding 8-1 win notably thanks to braces from Dries Mertens and Romelu Lukaku.
Ambroise Oyongo, full back
Cameroon
November 12 v Zamia - 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying
Ambroise Oyongo started for Cameroon against Zambia which ended in a 1-1 stalemate. Cold sweats were had by Impact supporters when the left back was stretchered off at the end of the game, but his message on Twitter was a reassuring one. You must see this nutmeg followed by an inch-perfect cross, a combination the Montreal strikers will relish as they prepare for the Eastern Conference Final.
Johan Venegas, attacking midfielder
Costa Rica
November 11 v Trinidad and Tobago – 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying
November 15 v United States of America – 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying
Venegas, who entered the fold in the 78th minute, did well for Costa Rica in a 2-0 win against Trinidad and Tobago, finding the back of the net – unfortunately for him, he was called for offside. Venegas then started against the USA, tormenting the central pairing of Brooks and Gonzalez for the whole first half before scoring with a header, brilliantly finding space at the near post. He was subbed off after 67 minutes for Joel Campbell, just before the Costaricans scored three times in 10 minutes to annihilate the American squad.
