MONTREAL - Defender Aron Mkungilwa, of the Montreal Impact U16 team, has been selected by the Canadian National U17 Team to take part in an upcoming training camp.
He will join the Canadian selection for an 11-day camp in Florida and Costa Rica, from February 5 to 25. The team will train for five days in Sunrise before heading to Central America to play a pair of friendly matches against the Costa Ricans on February 12 and 14.
Mkungilwa has started 11 games with the Impact U16 this season in the US Soccer Development Academy (USSDA). He previously played in the AGS Cup with the Canadian selection, and attended its last training camp, held in November in the United States and Panama.
This will be the final training camp for the Canadian squad before the 2013 CONCACAF Men's U17 Championship, which runs from April 6 to 19, in Panama City, Panama. Four CONCACAF teams will qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2013, in the United Arab Emirates.
