The Montreal Impact travelled to Hull to play the Quebec Dynamo Men’s AAA team in a friendly but came away with more than just a 2-1 victory last Wednesday.
The third edition of the Match de soccer Gala raised close to $6,000 for La Fondation Zach to help children in their fight against Cystic Fibrosis. The foundation was named after a young boy from the region, Zachary Labrie, who wanted to reach out and help others suffering from the same disease after his hockey team helped him raise money for his vest.
Fondation Zach: Make a donation
“It’s the third year in a row that we take part in this event to help Zachary’s foundation which raises money to buy therapeutic vests for young people stricken with Cystic Fibrosis,” said Philippe Eullaffroy, Director of the Montreal Impact Academy and head coach of the U21 team. It’s an incredible event in which we are extremely happy to be a part of. We use our pulmonary capacities in a way to help improve those of others by helping raise funds. We hope to be able to be part of this great event for years to come.”
Impact forward Alexander King scored the game winner for the Impact late in the game, but the real winners are the children helped by Zachary and his foundation; kids like 2 year old William Tourangeau who was presented with a therapeutic vest before the game in a special ceremony, through a donation by Energie Brookfield.
“We’d like to thank Impact Academy Director Philippe Eullaffroy and the entire U21 team for their assistance and generosity, including the donation of four pairs of tickets, an official Impact jersey and door prizes,” said Zachary’s mother, Sylvie Labrie.
