MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced on Thursday that the club and midfielder Collen Warner, who was entering the final year of his contract, have come to terms on an extension that will keep him in Montreal. As per MLS policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
A key player
“We are very happy to come to terms with Collen following the season he had last year,” said sporting director Nick De Santis. “He adapted well to the city, the culture and this organization. He was an important piece of our roster last year and played a vital role. We feel that he can be a key player for our team again this year and in the future.”
“I’m really excited to re-sign with the club and get this extension done before the start of the season,” said Warner. “Now, I can focus all my energy on the upcoming season and on helping this team win games. I would like to thank the organization, the coaching staff, sporting director Nick De Santis and president Joey Saputo for giving me the opportunity to continue my career here in Montreal.”
In his first season with the Impact in 2012 he set personal bests with 29 games played, 27 starts, 2,431 minutes of play and 32 shots.
Selected by the Impact in the 2011 MLS Expansion Draft on November 23, he also started two Amway Canadian Championship games, and played the international matches against Olympique Lyonnais and Bologna FC.
