Impact going through appeal process with CONCACAF

Following yesterday’s game versus Mexican side Club América, Montreal Impact technical director Adam Braz confirmed this morning that the club is going through the appeal process regarding several incidents, including goalkeeper Evan Bush’s yellow card at the end of the game.

« After sending an email last night, we sent a second email this morning outlining a few incidents that deserved yellow cards to Club América that were not given,” said Impact technical director Adam Braz. “It also highlighted the fact that Evan Bush goes to kick the ball to the halfway line, as every goalkeeper does after conceding a goal. Their player clearly goes and tries to block the ball in order to antagonize the referee to give a yellow card to our goalkeeper, knowing he already has one.”

“This completely goes against the fair-play moto of FIFA and CONCACAF,” added Braz. “We’ve stated all of the facts and made our position clear. We’ve asked CONCACAF to take a look at it seriously and we hope for a favourable decision.”

As of now, Bush will miss the decisive game at Olympic Stadium after receiving a second yellow, following his caution against L.D. Alajuelense in the return game of the Champions League semifinals.
“We will go step-by-step and see what CONCACAF decides regarding rescinding his yellow card. We’ll then explore all of our options to see what the best solution will be for the second leg to give ourselves the best chance to win.”

Furthermore, forward Dominic Oduro broke in alone on goal in the 44th minute, but he was taken down by Osvaldo Martinez. Despite a clear scoring opportunity being taken away and the player grabbing the shirt, the referee only showed a yellow card to the Eagles player, instead of a red on the play.

The Impact hopes to a decision will be made within the next 48 hours.
