MONTREAL – Midfielders Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé and Louis Béland-Goyette have been selected by the Canadian U20 National Team to play in three international friendlies against England, Russia and the United States as part of a 10-day trip to Europe, from November 9 to 18.
The Canadian selection will arrive in England on November 9 for two days of training, before facing the host team on November 12 at Dean Court in Bournemouth. The team will then head to Marbella, Spain, for matchups against Russia and the United States on November 15 and 18, respectively.
Gagnon-Laparé is returning to the Canadian U20 team after playing five games with the senior team, including his most recent cap in a friendly against Colombia, last October 15 at Red Bull Arena, in New Jersey. In his first MLS season, the Impact Academy graduate played five games and 270 minutes, including three starts.
Béland-Goyette played two games with Canada U20 at the Dale Farm Milk Cup in July in Ireland. He made his MLS debut last September 13 against the New England Revolution, after signing his first professional contract with the club a day earlier.
The Canadian selection is preparing for the 2015 CONCACAF U20 Championship, taking place from January 9 to 24 in Jamaica. Canada is part of Group B alongside Mexico, Honduras, Haiti, Cuba and El Salvador. The 12 teams participating in the tournament will look to grab one of the four available spots for the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup, in New Zealand.
