Maxime Crépeau, along with Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé from the first team, and Louis Béland-Goyette and Jonathan Grant from FC Montreal, are representing Canada at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto from July 10 to 26. The team opens competition at the CIBC Hamilton Soccer Stadium on July 12 against world powerhouses Brazil before wrapping up play in Group A with games against Panama on July 16 and Peru on July 20.
JOURNAL ENTRY #3
Monday, after the game, we had a regen session and ice baths were also on the schedule. We had the rest of the afternoon off and many guys on the team decided to play cards to kill time.
We had two good training sessions on Tuesday morning. It felt good to be back on the field. Later in the day, we took the bus to go see the senior national team play against Costa Rica, at BMO Field, in its last game of the Gold Cup’s group phase. Sadly, with a 0-0 draw, Canada was eliminated from the tournament.
The training session on Wednesday was simple, short and efficient, since it was the day before the game. We took the rest of the day to get our mind ready for our game against Panama.
Each day goes by really fast, but that Thursday was going even faster! We were already in the locker room 90 minutes before the game scheduled at 8:30pm. It was a good game with opportunities on both sides. However, even if we had better chances, we were unable to put the ball in. Final result: a 0-0 draw.
Tonight is our last chance. Brazil will face Panama at 5:30pm, before our game against Peru at 8:30pm. We have to win this game and Brazil needs a good score over Panama if we want to reach the semi-final.
Stay tuned!
