MONTRÉAL - CF Montréal played to a 0-0 draw against Chicago Fire FC Saturday night in front of the sixth sellout of the year at Stade Saputo.
This was only the third draw this season for Montreal and a first on home soil.
CF Montréal will play its next game on Wednesday as it will host FC Cincinnati at 7:30pm at Stade Saputo (MLS Season Pass, BPM Sports, TSN 690).
MATCH NOTES:
-For the third time this season, six Quebec players and seven Canadians were on CF Montréal’s starting lineup.
-Goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois set two new Club records by recording his 11th shutout of the season and his ninth on home soil.
-Sirois’ record at Stade Saputo this season is now 9-4-1 with a goals against average of 0.462.
HERNÁN LOSADA
"The hardest thing to do in soccer is to create chances. There was only one team on the pitch tonight. The finishing was lacking, but I'm happy with our performance. All we needed was a goal. We need to keep working. From the very first second, we were creating chances. We showed that we weren't satisfied with a point and we pushed right to the end of the game. We didn't give the opposition too many chances either."
BRYCE DUKE
"Tonight was my first time playing with Quioto. I hope to continue building chemistry with him and we'll see where that takes us. My main aim was to create chances in attack as a substitute, and I think I succeeded. A shutout is always positive. We created chances. If we'd converted a few of them, it would have been different. As a team, we played well. That's something we can build on. Once we find the attack, everything else will fall into place."
JONATHAN SIROIS
"We came away with a point tonight. It's bittersweet, but we've got to move on quickly because we play on Wednesday. I've remained consistent since the first game, while improving a few things - my decisions, my interventions, my footwork, etc. We're aware that we're not a team that scores a lot of goals. We know we have to limit our mistakes. Tonight's match doesn't add any more pressure. We're aware that we need a string of wins between now and the end of the season to get into the playoffs. I savoured the record with my family tonight, despite the draw. It's still a collective record. The guys in front of me contribute a lot to this record.”
