MONTRÉAL – In front of a fifth sold-out crowd at Stade Saputo in the last eight games, CF Montréal shut out D.C. United 1-0 on Saturday night in its final home game of the regular season, winning for the 19th time in 2022.
A quick combination late in the first half between Joaquin Torres and Zachary Brault-Guillard ultimately led to the winning goal: an own goal by Donovan Pines (41').
Montréal dominated possession at 65%. D.C. United went one man down in the 79th minute after Pines was ejected for a last-man foul in the penalty box.
With the three points, Montreal climbs to 62 points in the Eastern Conference and remains in the hunt for the Supporter's Shield with one final game to play on Sunday, October 9 against Inter Miami CF in Florida (TVA Sports, TSN, BPM Sports, TSN 690).
