MONTRÉAL – CF Montréal lost 1-0 to D.C. United, Saturday night, in its home opener at Stade Saputo.
D.C. United scored the game-winning goal at the beginning of the second half when Lewis O’Brien (46’) took advantage of a rebound.
CF Montréal will play twice this week at Stade Saputo, first this Tuesday at 7pm against Vaughan in the Canadian Championship (OneSoccer, BPM Sports, TSN 690), and next Saturday against the New York Red Bulls at 7:30pm (Apple MLS Season Pass, BPM Sports, TSN 690).

On the goal, we were not paying attention to the rebound and they scored. I'm disappointed because these are things we talk about during the week, we work on them, but it happens in games. The positive thing is that we fought until the end. We pushed, with a lot of offensive changes, and we finished the game with all the offensive players on the field. It's only one moment that decides the result of the game and it's a shame. We will continue to work and be much more attentive.

It's unacceptable to concede a goal on the kickoff of the second half. There are no excuses. We have to come out just like at the beginning of the game with the same mindset and communicate. The strikers struggled to have chances but it's a team effort. We score as a team and defend as a team. When the strikers don't score, it's on us the defenders as well. We have new players and staff so it takes time to build unity but you also need results to give yourself a rhythm.

I just feel like we have to create more chances. We have to adjust to the situations. With the long ball coming to me, I just have to do what I have to do and adapt. We must get back to work quickly because we have another game on Tuesday. We could redeem ourselves and get a victory in our stadium.
