A lot of younger players without as much experience played today, does that come into your mind at all?
No, not at all because they know now that they must work hard everyday to go higher in their preparation. They showed me throughout the week that they are ready but this is different. When there is some pressure, some tension, and when it’s a cup fight it’s another game so it’s a pity for some young players but these mistakes are very hard for us.
Did the lack of games for you this month have an impact on their performance?
No, the first thing I want to say is that I trust my players. It wasn’t too bad but we made some mistakes and we paid for them. Alessandro Nesta and Marco Di Vaio can’t play today and also be fresh for Saturday. It was a good move before the game because I saw the team for three or four days and I wanted to play like this, and they played very well throughout the week but today it isn’t a reality.
Will we see players like (Alessandro) Nesta and (Marco) Di Vaio in the second leg (against Toronto)?
We play now Saturday and we want to win this game, you can see it on the field. I can’t answer that now, it’s not possible. But I’m sure that we will be ready for next Wednesday.
