MLS Fantasy: Which players will you pick?

adidas soccer ball MLS prime 2014 preseason

With the 2014 MLS season just hours away, all you Fantasy League procrastinators are probably scrambling to find a couple of affordable players to round at your roster.

Every week, Impact Media will help you make your selection by showcasing one Impact player and one MLS player.

Here are two good value picks with the potential to garner greater rewards for week 1:

Eric Miller ($4.5m) - Defender, Montreal Impact

With a number of injuries to the backline, Miller has been a consistent go-to wingback throughout the preseason, playing both the right and left sides. His jump to the pros looks to be just about set in stone as Jeb Brovsky is a question mark due to injury for Saturday’s opener at Dallas.

He will cost you the league minimum, but may get important minutes, at least at the start of the season.

Fábinho ($6.5m) - Defender, Philadelphia Union

Here is an offensive minded left back that likes to get up the field in a hurry. In the lower tier in terms of cost, his attacking contributions outweigh some of the defensive liabilities that come with a prototypical attacking wingback. With half a season under the Brazilian’s belt, look at Fabinho to have a breakout year as the Philadelphia Union has added three DP’s for 2014, a first time in the club’s history, that will allow for more offensive output.
