BRIDGEVIEW, Illinois – The Montreal Impact fell 1-0 to the Chicago Fire on Monday morning, in its final MLS Reserve League game of the season, played at the Toyota Park Practice Field.
Chicago’s guest player Bubacarr Jobe scored the lone goal of the match in the 28th minute. A long ball from Benji Joya sent Fire Academy player Andrew Gutman down the left side, where Gutman played the ball square to Jobe, who tapped the ball into the back of the net.
Montreal had its best scoring chance in the 91st minute when Felipe was awarded a free kick from about 35 yards from goal. The Brazilian attempted to chip the ensuing free kick over the wall, but Chicago Fire Academy player Cameron Lindley cleared it just before the final whistle.
Fire goalkeeper Alec Kann played the full 90 minutes with the Impact because goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau was injured during warmup. Impact keeper Evan Bush could not play the game due to Reserve league regulations and Troy Perkins is in Montreal due to back spasms.
