As the Impact head into the draft, Director of Soccer Operations Matt Jordan feels that the most depth might be at midfield in this year’s crop at the 2103 SuperDraft.
“I would say the crop of players available at midfield is decent this year,” said Jordan. “But we have to examine all the players there in order to fill our organizational needs. At the combine, there will be some international youth players from all over the world that we have to evaluate as well.”
John Stertzer – University of Maryland
“He played as a second striker this year, in more of a free-role as a withdrawn forward. He is a two-way player with excellent physical attributes. He’s very good in the air and has a good shot from distance.”
Dillon Powers – University of Notre Dame
“Powers has a soccer pedigree. His father (Mike) was a very good soccer player, which is an advantage for him. He had a good season and is a very good two-way midfielder with a strong understanding of the game. He is a good leader and has the ability to play out of tight spaces.”

“Bekker is a very good soccer player. He can play centrally or outside midfielder. He has a very good understanding of the game and is very technically sound.”
Blake Smith – University of New Mexico
“He is a true outside midfielder. He has the ability to come inside and combine with the central midfielders, but he is also very strong when it comes to taking the ball down the line and providing good service into the box.”
