On June 16, following an expansion to over 20,000 seats at Stade Saputo, the Impact’s home stadium was finally ready to host its first game in MLS.
Facing one of the best teams from the Western Conference, the Impact dominated the Seattle Sounders (who happen to be its opponent for opening game of the 2013 season in Seattle) by a 4-1 score, in which Felipe (18th), Justin Mapp (51st), Andrew Wenger (58th) and Lamar Neagle (87th) scored, while Patrice Bernier tallied three assists for the home team.
The new stadium became a fortress. Led by its supporters and an electrifying atmosphere, the team registered an excellent 10-4-3 home record in its first season in MLS.
