COWANSVILLE, Quebec – The Montreal Impact Foundation inaugurated on Wednesday a new multisport mini-field in Cowansville, providing young people in the community with a new, safe, and accessible space to engage in physical activity. The event was attended by players from CF Montréal’s first team, representatives of the City of Cowansville and youth from the region, accompanied by coaches from the Club’s soccer schools.
“The creation of this new multisport mini-field reflects our commitment to providing young people with spaces that encourage physical activity, foster community engagement, and make sport more accessible,” said Carmie Saputo, President of the Montreal Impact Foundation. “Through this project, we hope to leave a lasting legacy in the Cowansville community by creating a place where the next generation can come together, develop, and reach their full potential through sport.”
M. Stéphane Lussier, Deputy Mayor and Municipal Councillor for the City of Cowansville, highlighted the significance of the project for the community:
“We are particularly proud that the Montreal Impact Foundation has chosen Cowansville as the home of this new multisport mini-field. As the City celebrates its 150th anniversary, this project represents a meaningful legacy for our residents. It will contribute to the quality of life of our community while encouraging active lifestyles and participation in sports. I would like to thank the Montreal Impact Foundation for its trust, as well as our municipal teams whose dedication made this project possible.”
To mark the inauguration, coaches from the CF Montréal Soccer Schools led a sports clinic for local youth. Participants then had the opportunity to play in friendly matches alongside first-team players.
This project was made possible through a collaboration between the Montreal Impact Foundation, which oversaw the design and installation of the mini-field, and the City of Cowansville, which carried out the preparatory work necessary for its installation.
Measuring 36 metres by 18 metres, the mini-field consists of a modular galvanized steel structure designed to ensure safety and durability. The facility also includes two certified goals with secure anchoring systems, benches, and a built-in lighting system.
This new mini-pitch is the fourth to be inaugurated as part of Phase 2 of the Montreal Impact Foundation's multisport mini-field program, which includes the construction of ten new facilities in communities across Quebec. Cowansville now joins Les Coteaux, Val-des-Bois and Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, which already benefit from this initiative.
During the “C’est mieux en bleu” fundraising event held on April 20, the Foundation announced that Cowansville and the Municipality of Lotbinière had been selected to receive a mini-field in 2026. Another installation will also be officially inaugurated in Longueuil in the coming weeks.
Through this project, the Foundation aims to promote access to sports, encourage the adoption of healthy lifestyles, and contribute to the personal development of young people living in communities where sports facilities are limited or inadequate.
