Earlier this year, the Montreal Impact renewed its engagement towards Special Olympics Quebec.
Indeed, during the 2018 season, two clubs composed of Special Olympic athletes, the Lajemmerais-Vallée-du-Richelieu Cougars, as well as the Saint-Jérôme Grizzlys, will face each other in a friendly game at Stade Saputo on September 23. Both teams will also have to chance to participate in a training session a few weeks earlier in the company of coaches from the first team and the academy.
Last Saturday, during the game against Sporting Kansas City, the 24 athletes and six coaches were presented to the crowd at Stade Saputo.
Congratulations to both teams!
The Impact is committed to putting diversity, equality, and inclusion at every level of the sport to the forefront and continues to support programs that increase accessibility to soccer in order to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle.
