Drew Moor Davy Arnaud Colorado Rapids vs Montreal Impact EN

All good things come in threes…or does it go all bad things.

For the Colorado Rapids, they are having a fairly successful season, playing to one game under five hundred, and currently sitting in a playoff spot in the Western Conference, despite suffering a number of injuries to key players. Here are three things you should know about the Rapids come Saturday night’s game.

Three key injuries

Among the number of injured players, you’ll find the names of MLS veteran midfielder Pablo Mastroeni, forward Omar Cummings and most recently his star partner in attack, Conor Casey. Casey went down with a hamstring strain on Thursday in training. The three key cogs to the Rapids offence will definitely hurt, but Colorado has been playing most of the season without Mastroeni and Casey.

Three players with three goals each

The Rapids have spread around their scoring this season, with three different players leading the team with three goals. Cummings, along with forward Kamani Hill and midfielder Jaime Castrillon have scored three goals apiece this season, accounting for 9 of the team’s 17 goals scored so far this season.

Three shutouts = three wins

Colorado has amassed a record of 3-1-1 in five games at home, but all wins have come with a shutout. Colorado beat Chicago 2-0 on March 10 and then Columbus by the same score on April 1, while dominating Chivas USA 4-0 on April 28. When allowing a goal at home, the Rapids are (0-1-1), but have scored 14 of its 17 goals at the comfy confines of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
