He’s simply irresistible.
Ignacio Piatti scoring spectacular goals has been unavoidable, and fans on the Web know he deserves the applause. After his recent MLS Player of the Week win, Piatti won his third AT&T Goal of the Week award of the season, this Friday.
Piatti triumphed with the first of the two goals he scored last Saturday, in the 4-4 tie at Columbus that left us all in awe. After a fine Didier Drogba feed in the penalty area, Piatti created space for himself with a fantastic backheel before curling a shot at the far post.
Impact players and the AT&T Goal of the Week award have been indivisible this season; they’ve picked up four out of ten awards given out this season, with Maxim Tissot winning the prize in Week 9.
Piatti, Tissot and the Impact return to Stade Saputo this Saturday at 5pm EDT against the Philadelphia Union (RDS, TDS, 98,5fm & TSN Radio 690). The Impact advises supporters to get to Stade Saputo early and to use public transit. Pie-IX Blvd. will be closed in the northbound direction, from Pierre-de-Coubertin Ave. to Mont-Royal Ave., until May 31. Traffic disruptions are also scheduled on Pierre-de-Coubertin Ave., between Jeanne-d’Arc Ave. and Pie-IX Blvd., until early June.
