Montreal looking for second consecutive win at home
CF Montreal is back home to take on Sporting Kansas City, this Saturday night at 7:30pm. Head coach Wilfried Nancy’s men will look to improve their record at home and make Stade Saputo a true fortress as we head into the second part of the season. Tickets for that game are available here.
Montreal will be looking for its second consecutive win at home when it hosts the Kansas representatives at Stade Saputo, against a team that has struggled as of late. SKC has suffered two consecutive losses, being shut out in both those games. They are currently dead last in MLS with 16 points on the season.
“We’re happy to be back home, but we’re truly focused on the task at hand,” said head coach Wilfried Nancy. “The crowd helps us during the difficult moments, and we try to do the right things to collect points at home. But it isn’t as easy as one might think to play at home. There’s more pressure on the players.”
For our game Saturday, a smoker will be on site preparing Kansas-inspired food, most notably pulled pork sandwiches! And with the Jazz Festival in town, a saxophonist will be performing live during pregame.
The Bleu-blanc-noir, on its end, is coming off two games on the West Coast last week, a road trip that started successfully with a 2-1 win over the Seattle Sounders, thanks to a brace from striker Mason Toye.
The squad then travelled to Los Angeles for a rare game against the LA Galaxy, and despite creating multiple chances, they eventually fell 4-0 to the hosts.
“We were more efficient against Seattle, to put it simply,” added Nancy. “We played a very high-level first half in Seattle, but they regained control at certain moments in the second. Against LA, we were in control the whole game, but the game was decided on certain details. We need to be at our best at all times, and that isn’t easy. We need to put our chances away faster, and we need to minimize our errors as much as we can.”
