Pregame - CF Montréal v. Toronto FC

CF Montréal will host its biggest rival, Toronto FC, this Saturday at 7:30pm at Stade Saputo. You can still purchase tickets for the game here.

Head coach Wilfried Nancy’s men will be looking to bounce back in MLS and get back to their winning ways following back-to-back losses in MLS, including a 2-1 loss at home last weekend to Sporting Kansas City.

"I can assure you it’s going to be different from last game against TFC, said Joel Waterman. They’re coming to our house now, so we want to make sure that we have a solid performance. We were very disappointed last week against Kansas City-- it was a game we were supposed to win. Against Toronto, it’s a different feeling-- it’s a derby game. Everyone knows what’s at stake. They don’t like us, we don’t like them. We’ll do everything in our power to get the three points.

Toronto FC continues to struggle on its end as we kick off the second part of the season. Head coach Bob Bradley’s men are winless in their last three games, including two losses, and sit near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings with just 19 points. But in a derby, no game is to be taken lightly.

This will be the second game between the Canadian rivals this year, but the first in MLS. Toronto FC got the better of Montreal in the semifinals of the Canadian Championship, booking their ticket to the final thanks to a 4-0 win at BMO Field.

Their new signing and Designated Player, Lorenzo Insigne, won’t be available for this one, as he’s still recovering from injury.

"Our players are motivated, and against Toronto I don’t need to explain it to them, said head coach Wilfried Nancy. We know how it goes and we’re going to do everything we can to win this game."

During the match against Toronto, former player and captain Mauro Biello will be inducted into the Club's Wall of Fame. A special ceremony will be held on the pitch at halftime.

For the occasion, fans are invited to wear their old Montreal Impact jerseys, while a photo booth station for a souvenir marking this special day will be located in the Soccer Celebration Zone (sections 113 to 116). Mauro becomes the fourth player to be inducted onto the Wall of Fame, following the induction of defenders Nevio Pizzolitto and Gabriel Gervais on March 17, 2018, and goalkeeper Greg Sutton later on July 6, 2019.

CF Montréal will be back on the road the following week on Saturday, July 23, to take on DC United at Audi Field, before returning home to take on the defending champions in MLS, New York City FC, at Stade Saputo on Saturday, July 30, at 7:30pm. Tickets available here.
