Impact news

The Impact is undefeated in its last four games at home across all competitions with a 2-0-2 record and has shutout its opponents over the last three matches at Stade Saputo, including a 1-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes in its first CONCACAF Champions League matchup.

The Impact fell 2-1 to the Fire in Chicago last Saturday, in MLS regular season play. In the loss, Felipe’s second half strike was nominated for AT&T Goal of the Week honours.

The club has scored the first goal in 11 of the 22 games played thus far in 2013 and has yet to lose with an 8-0-3 record when opening the score.

Midfielders Justin Mapp (3-0-2) and Davy Arnaud (4-0-2) have not lost a game with the Impact this season at home when they were in the starting lineup.

Patrice Bernier will appear in his 50th career MLS game and Felipe will hit the 50 games started plateau in each of their next opportunities.

Impact goalkeeper Troy Perkins is the only player to have started every game and played every single minute in MLS regular season action.

Andrew Wenger returned to full training this week following a foot injury and will be available for selection for Saturday’s matchup.

D.C. United news

In D.C. United’s most recent matchup, the youngest starting lineup in the history of the club fell to the Philadelphia Union 2-0 last Saturday, following three games played in eight nights.

Despite having won just three regular season games, DCU earned two victories from last week’s stretch of games, including the 3-1 win at RFK Stadium over the Impact on August 3 and a midweek victory over the Chicago Fire by a 2-0 score in US Open Cup play, earning a berth in the final.

Former Impact defender Dennis Iapichino, who was placed on waivers earlier this week, was scooped up by D.C. United on Thursday and should be available Saturday.

Midfielder Luis Silva, acquired from Toronto FC earlier last month, has been a catalyst for the black and red since donning the jersey. His three goals in three games played now have him as the top scorer on the team.

Canadian international and former MLS MVP Dwayne De Rosario is finding his form following an injury that has hampered him in 2013, scoring both goals in the US Open Cup semi-final win.

United keeper Bill Hamid was out of the lineup for the previous matchup between these two sides, following a call-up with the U.S. national team. Despite a tough season for Hamid and his teammates in 2013, he has still managed four clean sheets.

Forward Lionard Pajoy underwent Hernia surgery on August 1 and is expected to be out of action until mid-September.

The team parted ways with young DP Rafael earlier this summer, who was signed on loan from Brazilian Serie A side Bahia in January.
