MONTREAL, Quebec – The Montreal Impact (11-7-5) will end a sequence of eight games in 22 days as it hosts the Houston Dynamo (10-7-6) on Saturday at Stade Saputo, at 7pm (ET), looking to improve its five-game home winning streak across all competitions. The game will be broadcast live on RDS and TSN2. You can also get live updates using the Impact mobile app or by following @impactmontreal on twitter.
The Impact now sits third in the Eastern Conference with 38 points from 23 games played, only two points in front of the Dynamo, which is fifth with as many games played.
This is the second of three regular season meetings between the two sides in 2013. In the first matchup, the Impact shut out the Dynamo at home on June 19 by a 2-0 score, thanks to goals by Marco Di Vaio and Felipe.
The match will be presented by Uniprix. For the event, Uniprix coupons will be distributed at the Celebration Zone along with the setup of a photo booth and face-painting. Impact news
In its most recent home matchup, the Impact won 2-1 over D.C. United last weekend in MLS regular season action thanks to a brace by Marco Di Vaio, whose game-winner was nominated for Goal of the Week honours.
However, the Impact was forced to play a midweek fixture in CONCACAF Champions League play on Wednesday, travelling to Guatemala, where the team lost 1-0 against CD Heredia.
Impact head coach Marco Schällibaum will serve the first of a two-game suspension following an altercation in last Saturday’s matchup versus D.C. United. Assistant coach Mauro Biello will serve as the bench boss in his absence.
Dynamo news
The Dynamo was also in action midweek in CCL group stage play, earning a scoreless draw on Tuesday night in Trinidad and Tobago against W Connection.
Houston’s newest DP signing, Alexander Lopez, put on the Orange jersey for the first time in the CCL match. The Honduran, who is expected to make his MLS debut this weekend, is an attacking midfielder who played for his native country, semi-finalists in the 2013 Gold Cup.
Midfielder Boniek Garcia has returned to form as of late, following national team duty, registering two assists in his last two starts. His return to the lineup on July 6 has inspired his side to make a solid run, going 4-1-1 in MLS games.
In its last matchup, the Orange topped Clint Dempsey and the Seattle Sounders last Saturday by a 3-1 score, thanks to a brace by Englishman Giles Barnes and a goal by Will Bruin. Goalkeeper Tally Hall earned his 50th career win in all competitions.
Forward Calen Carr, who has missed the entire 2013 season, is close to match fitness and may be available for selection on Saturday.
Upcoming game
The Impact travels to Philadelphia to face the Union on Saturday, August 31 at 7:30pm.
