MONTREAL – CF Montréal announced that Icelandic centre-back Róbert Thorkelsson underwent successful surgery on Tuesday morning for a sports hernia to his left adductor.
“We knew that Róbert had this injury when he joined the Club last June but it was important for us to sign him,” said CF Montréal sporting director Olivier Renard. “We hoped he would get back on his feet but the pain is still present and we decided to go ahead with the surgery. We wish him a speedy recovery.”
Thorkelsson will be out for a period of eight to 12 weeks.
