He will face Jamaica on November 17 and 21
MONTREAL – CF Montréal midfielder Samuel Piette was called up Wednesday by the Canadian men’s national team for the upcoming international break from November 13 to 21.
Canada will take on Jamaica in the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Nations League, in a home-and-away series format. Mauro Biello’s squad will play the first game at Independence Park in Kingston, Jamaica, on November 17 and will then host the Reggae Boyz at Toronto’s BMO Field on November 21.
The 2023-2024 Concacaf Nations League also serves as the qualifier for Concacaf teams participating in the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024. As such, all Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal winners will earn a berth for the prestigious South American tournament while the losers advance to a qualifying play-off, featuring two single-leg matches.
Piette's last national team camp marked his return to the Reds’ squad since his call-up to the 2022 World Cup roster in Qatar after an injury picked up at the start of the season. The Repentigny, Quebec native played 61 minutes in a 4-1 loss to Japan in a friendly match. Piette has 67 caps for Canada since making his debut in 2012.
