Read what Impact head coach Marco Schällibaum had to say following the 2-2 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes, last Saturday at Buck Shaw Stadium.
Thoughts on the game:
The first 15-20 minutes we were very lucky. [Troy Perkins] made some marvelous saves, but then they scored the goal. There was a period of time where we couldn’t keep San Jose away from the net. They are a very good team, but we were just unlucky because we lost the two points. Playing in this weather wasn’t so easy for my guys, but overall it was a good presentation by my team.
Thoughts on tight schedule:
The travel was very hard on our guys. However, overall, I think we did a great job with the little time between matches. I will go re-watch the game again. I just think that our guys have the never give up attitude and I am very happy with that.
Thoughts on Goalkeeper Troy Perkins:
He always makes big saves every game. I know he can do some great things and he is showing myself, and his teammates that he is a great piece to have in our formation. The first 20 minutes I thought was all him.
Thoughts on MLS schedule so far:
The level of play is high for us. We have played some physical teams so far. The weather and time of today’s game was very hard for our players. I am very proud of what they did. It’s not easy to come here with the travel and weather. Overall we did a great job.
