Supporters Day: 10 reasons to attend Saturday’s match

Ultras Montreal supporters vs Columbus Crew Stade Saputo

The impact will play its 34th and final game of the MLS season this Saturday afternoon, hosting the New England Revolution at 2pm (ET).

This game will serve as the perfect opportunity to thank all those who have stood behind the team since the start of the season (and for some, even before that!): the supporters. With that in mind, here are the Top 10 reasons to be in the stands on Saturday afternoon.

Supporters Day: 10 reasons to attend Saturday’s match -

1. Ultras Montréal: a “huge tifo” on the program

Showing its loyalty for 10 years now, the Ultras Montreal is expected to present a special tifo for the team’s last game of the season. The only way to get a glimpse of the tifo that will be lifted in section 132 will be as an in-stadium spectator!

2. Oktoberfest with 127 Montréal

The supporters group 127 Montreal plans to end the 2012 with a bang, holding its traditional tailgate party in the parking lot of the Centre Pierre-Charbonneau located near the entrance of the stadium. One word to entice you: Oktoberfest!

6. An important result

The Impact may have been eliminated from playoff contention, but the team must win its final game of the season, not only for its supporters, but to finish as the best Canadian team in MLs, ahead of the Whitecaps.

A victory would see the Impact finish the season with 45 points and an edge in the 2013 Amway Canadian Championship, facing FC Edmonton, a second division side, in the semi-finals.

7. A developing rivalry

As a proud Montrealer, we don’t really need extra motivation to despise a team from New England, especially since the team plays out of Boston. With hockey on the shelf, Montreal supporters should take advantage of the opportunity to develop the same rivalry in soccer.

And as such, a win would give the Impact a season sweep of all three matchups versus the Revolution!
