MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact Foundation, in collaboration with the city of La Tuque, announced on Wednesday the construction of a new multisport mini-field in the Mauricie region. The field will be built on the grounds of Ski La Tuque.
It will be the fifth mini-field built by the Foundation after the ones unveiled at parc Champdoré, in Saint-Michel (2018), parc Joe-Beef, in Pointe-Saint-Charles (2019), parc Paul-André Potvin, in Shawinigan (2021) and parc du Moulin, in Saint-François, Laval (2022).
“We are very proud to join forces with the La Tuque community in this project. The Montreal Impact Foundation aims to be a vehicle for positive change in the lives of young people throughout all regions of Quebec,” said Véronique Fortin, Executive Director of the Montreal Impact Foundation. “In sharing common goals with the city to serve the community and provide facilities to improve the quality of life of children and their families, these fields are a testament to the concrete impact of a fruitful collaboration between the two organizations. We are committed to the practice of physical activity and the social integration of vulnerable communities.”
“Thank you to the Montreal Impact Foundation for choosing La Tuque and investing with us. We are delighted and incredibly proud to welcome this new sports infrastructure that will allow our children to get moving and have fun. This donation from the Foundation aligns perfectly with our own multisport development project on the Ski La Tuque site, which our municipal team will be carrying out in the coming weeks. This family area will be available for use 12 months a year for a variety of activities and given this field’s location near the Maison de Jeunes and Champagnat High School, we are confident it will be a resounding success,” said La Tuque Mayor Luc Martel.
The field’s construction is expected to begin this May while the inauguration is scheduled for the beginning of August 2023.
