MONTREAL - At its annual C'est mieux en bleu event on Thursday, the Montreal Impact Foundation announced the municipalities where the first two fields of the second phase of its multisport field project will be built. The winning municipalities are Les Coteaux, located in MRC Vaudreuil-Soulanges in the Montérégie region, and Val-des-Bois, a municipality in MRC Papineau in the Outaouais region.
The Foundation had marked its 10th anniversary last year by unveiling plans for the second phase of its project which includes the construction of 10 new mini-fields.
These two municipalities caught the attention of the Montreal Impact Foundation's selection committee for the eloquence of their presentations and their compliance with the criteria among all the submissions received from community organizations and cities across Quebec.
“It is with immense pride that we award mini-fields to these two municipalities,” said Carmie Saputo, President of the Montreal Impact Foundation. “This initiative attests to our commitment to building new structures that follow current trends with the aim of offering youth from diverse communities safe and quality spaces in which to play.”

We are grateful to the foundation for its support, which will improve the quality of life of children and families in our municipality, including those from vulnerable backgrounds. Together, we are creating a dynamic, unifying, and inclusive space for our community.”
“Never in our wildest dreams did we believe the municipality of Val-des-Bois would be an appealing candidate for a major contributor like the Montreal Impact Foundation,” said Roland Montpetit, Mayor of Val-des-Bois. “As a token of our appreciation, we pledge to proudly respect the organization's mission to improve the quality of life of our young families by getting them excited to play outside. For our small community, the installation of a multisport field represents a giant step towards achieving this goal, for which we are extremely grateful.”
These asphalt or concrete structures, to which an acrylic coating will be applied, will be encircled by a galvanized steel modular frame. Construction will begin this spring.
In the first phase of the project, the Montreal Impact Foundation built five multisport mini-fields with artificial grass in different regions of Quebec: at Parc Champdoré in the Saint-Michel borough (2018), at Parc Joe-Beef in the Pointe-Saint-Charles neighborhood (2019), at Parc Paul-André-Potvin Park in Shawinigan (2021), at Parc du Moulin in Laval (2022), and most recently at Ski La Tuque in La Tuque (2024).
