Why you don’t want to miss our July matches at Stade Saputo
We’re officially past the halfway point of the season, and CF Montréal finds itself near the top of the Eastern Conference.
Wilfried Nancy’s men now look ahead to a busy July schedule as they get set to kick off the second half of the season. Of the six games in July, Montreal will play three at Stade Saputo, starting on Saturday, July 9, against Sporting Kansas City, followed by Toronto FC on July 16, and finishing with New York City FC on July 30. All games kick off at 7:30pm and tickets are available here.
Here are three reasons you don’t want to miss any of these three games.
CF Montréal v Sporting Kansas City – July 9
Dominant at home
Montreal will finally be back home following a long stint in the West Coast, and we are eager to see the fans again! The Bleu-blanc-noir will look to continue dominating at home in front of its home supporters.
Kansas BBQ in MTL
With Kansas visiting Montreal, we wanted to bring some of Kansas to the stadium. A smoker will be on site near section 112, which means the food at Stade Saputo will have a southern flair for our game against the Kansas representatives.
A taste of jazz
With the Jazz Festival in full swing in Montreal, a saxophonist will be playing live on the Budweiser stage during the pregame!
CF Montréal v Toronto FC – July 16
A historic rivalry
We all know the rivalry that exists between these two sides. It’s a feeling you understand right away upon joining one of these two teams: we don’t like them, and they don’t like us. This animosity is often felt on the pitch, and a win against our bitter rivals always tastes a little sweeter. Our players will not have forgotten our 4-0 loss to Toronto FC a few weeks ago in the semifinals of the Canadian Championship and will be eager to avenge that loss.
Donnez l’avantage #FanFini BMO
For the game against Toronto, BMO will set up two kiosks outside the stadium to encourage the collection of soccer equipment. The purpose of the Donnez l’avantage #FanFini BMO program has a clear objective: to provide universal access to sport through the donation of equipment!
Through this Program, BMO wishes to give young soccer players in need the opportunity to practice their favorite sport by offering them refurbished equipment that may one day make all the difference.
Wall of Fame induction
We will also be inducting one of our former players into our Wall of Fame. The inductees thus far are Gabriel Gervais, Nevio Pizzolito and Greg Sutton. Stay tuned as we get set to announce the identity of our former player, and all the initiatives around his induction.
CF Montréal v NYCFC
The defending champions
Two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference knocking boots, what else can you ask for? NYCFC is the defending champion in MLS and is currently tied with Montreal on points, both with 29 apiece.
Goalfest?
Like Montreal, NYCFC also like to score a lot of goals. Should make for an exciting match! The New York side is third leaguewide with 33 goals since the beginning of the year, Montreal ranking fourth with 32 goals.
Rep’ your flag
During our game against NYCFC, we ask you to rep’ your flag! Come to the stadium in your country’s colours! Let’s celebrate everything we love about Montreal, its diversity, and its inclusivity.
